Georg tried snowboarding for the first time at the age of fifteen, in those years snowboarding in Italy was in its early days and it was not easy to find the right equipment. |
With the help of the snowboard centre Rino & Klaus and with a few friends he started snowboarding as a self-taught man since in those days there were no snowboarding instructors in Italy.
Two years later he started to compete in the Sudtirolcup circuit.
In 1991 he becomes a snowboarding instructor
1994 he passes the C exam in Austria to become a trainer
1994 he becomes Italian snowboarding trainer
In those years he competed in the Europa Cup and Italian Cup as well as taking part in a few world Cup (I.S.F) competitions.
1996 for the first time sees Georg win the title of Italian National Champion of Slalom, the year after he wins his second title.
He will then be called to take part in the snowboarding instructors’ examining board.

From 1996 to 1998 he wins many competitions in the Europa Cup and gains many podiums consequently winning the general standings.
In 1998 he is called to compete at the Olympic Games (Nagano, JPN), but unfortunately does not manage to qualify.
In 1999 he is called to compete in the World Championships in Berchtesgaden (GER) coming 11th in the parallel slalom beaten by only a few hundredths of a second by his fellow countryman Karl Frenademetz.

In 2001 he is called to compete at the World Championships in Madonna di Campiglio (ITA) coming in 16th, beaten by a few hundredths of a second by the French man Mattieu Bozzetto.

In 2000 at the Goodwill games Lake Placid in USA he is 8th in the supergiant.
In the year 2000 with friends, snowboarding instructors and ex athletes he establishes the snowboarding school “2000” in Selva di Val Gardena.
In 2001 he has back problems (herniated disc), he spends almost a month in hospital, afterwards he has to undergo a lot of fisiotherapy.
In 2001 after collaborating with many snowboarding companies he establishes Rabanser-Snowboardfactory, in collaboration with Aldeghi Marco one of the world’s first snowboard constructors
In 2002 he is called to compete for the Olympic team but once again does not manage to qualify for the final in Salt Lake City, USA, penalized by his back ache. In 2002 he sets up the Pro-Snowboard team, where he becomes the coach. The team consists of athletes of different teams as well as from the national team. In 2002 he sets up summer and autumn professional training camps. |
